…The Attic (XVI) Anything — by Icl. Jess

Where chaos reigns
There’s naught to gain
It’s not the silence I wont
abide
For me the worlds always collide
When you ache
Are we not sore?
I never said it was your
mistake–
It’s mindless chatter that I
abhor

The words that lie beneath?
The gods that lie beneath?

I don’t like to use a word
twice close together
Drives me crazy but
that could just be me

I’m crying because you don’t doubt

The God that lies beneath

Because he’s not supposed
to be beneath?

So I’m smiling… I’m crying?
Frowning?

Mal – Do you know what the first rule of flyin’ is? Well, I suppose you do, since you already know what I’m about to say

River – I do — But I like to hear you say it

seductive sneers, you don’t
doubt, the God that lies beneath

‘If only, if only’, the woodpecker sighs
The bark of the tree were as soft as the skies —

I don’t know why I hedged— anon
